Tech Lead, Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and lead architectural decisions throughout the platform, encompassing API design, data modeling, infrastructure, security, and third-party integrations.

• Establish and elevate engineering standards for code quality, testing, documentation, and secure coding practices in alignment with SOC 2.

• Spearhead technical scoping, risk assessment, and estimation for significant product initiatives.

• Propel the AI-driven underwriting roadmap and promote intelligent automation for cyber-risk evaluation.

• Detect and address technical debt while balancing immediate delivery with the long-term health of the platform.

• Guide, mentor, and cultivate the skills of senior and mid-level engineers through coaching, code reviews, and collaborative sessions.

• Create an environment of psychological safety, continuous learning, and accountability within the engineering team.

• Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, and product leadership to convert business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Work alongside the CTO on technical strategy, roadmap priorities, and platform scalability.

• Oversee engineering's involvement in the SOC 2 compliance journey.

• Manage partnerships with external data providers and risk analytics platforms like KYND.

• Design and implement production-quality features for quoting, policy management, broker workflows, and claims integrations.

• Architect and sustain observable data pipelines for risk assessment and actuarial modeling.

• Own the CI/CD infrastructure, ensuring deployment reliability and platform observability.

• Guarantee that the platform scales securely in response to user volume and product complexity.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• A minimum of 3 years in a leadership or principal role.

• Demonstrated ownership of complex, production-grade systems from architecture to deployment, scaling, and long-term reliability.

• Mastery of clean code, SOLID principles, design patterns, distributed systems, and API-first methodologies.

• Proven ability to drive architectural decisions and articulate technical strategy effectively to non-engineering stakeholders and executives.

• Capacity to lead, develop, and retain a high-performing engineering team through mentorship, recruitment, and cultural leadership.

• A security-focused mindset, prioritizing data integrity, access control, and compliance.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong intellectual curiosity regarding technology, data, and risk.

• Proficient in AWS, Docker, Apache Airflow, Neo4j, GraphQL, and CDNs.

• Solid understanding of version control best practices utilizing Git.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a comparable field.

• Capability to remain seated for extended periods while working at a desk and using a computer.

• Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
