Lead Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take the lead in designing and delivering a comprehensive full-stack RCM worklist platform, encompassing everything from the user interface to backend services, APIs, and the data model.

• Develop and enhance event-driven services and workflows that effectively route, prioritize, and track tasks among both human and AI agents.

• Design and manage the API and translation layer that connects the platform with EverHealth products, its clearinghouse, and external systems.

• Create application code that interacts with, coordinates, and monitors AI agents, incorporating guardrails, human review stages, and observability features.

• Oversee data modeling and schema design, crafting efficient SQL queries and utilizing ORMs effectively.

• Collaborate with end users, product teams, operations, and business leaders to comprehend workflows, identify issues, and assess outcomes.

• Share accountability for technical direction and engineering standards, mentoring engineers through code reviews, pairing, and design discussions.

• Advocate for AI-assisted development throughout planning, design, coding, testing, review, and operational phases.

• Develop secure, reliable, and HIPAA-compliant software supported by rigorous testing, monitoring, and operational methodologies.

• Recognize and assess opportunities for automation, AI, and innovative experiences within the EverHealth portfolio.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional software engineering experience, including the leadership of technical direction for a team.

• Strong full-stack engineering expertise in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages, with a proven history of deploying production systems across UI, backend, and APIs.

• Experience in designing and building event-driven systems, such as message queues, event streams, and asynchronous workflows.

• Strong SQL proficiency and practical experience with contemporary databases, ORMs, and schema design.

• Skilled in effectively leveraging AI throughout all stages of the software development lifecycle.

• A product engineering mindset that emphasizes problem-solving and delivering results, not merely technology.

• Ability to collaborate efficiently with non-technical stakeholders, including end users and business leaders, translating their requirements into functional software.

• Comfort in working within a small team environment with significant ownership and an adaptable scope.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Experience integrating LLMs or AI agents into production software, encompassing orchestration, evaluation, and human-in-the-loop workflows.

• Background in healthcare/RCM, including claims, EDI 837/835, eligibility, denial and A/R workflows, and HIPAA compliance.
