This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct research and create state estimation and navigation algorithms aimed at achieving resilient autonomy in challenging environments where GPS is unavailable.
• Design and implement production-ready C++ software for embedded robotic systems functioning in dynamic, real-world settings.
• Develop and sustain unit, integration, and system-level tests to ensure robustness and safety.
• Create and improve modeling, calibration, and simulation tools for inertial and vision-based navigation systems.
• Contribute to the planning of roadmaps, feature breakdowns, and agile execution in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team focused on autonomy engineering.
• Improve performance analysis, benchmarking, and validation processes.
• Convert advanced algorithms into high-performance software that drives resilient autonomy.
• A Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related discipline; at least 2 years of relevant professional experience with a Master’s degree, or no experience if a recent Ph.D. graduate.
• Expertise in modern C++ programming (C++11 or later).
• Proficient in object-oriented design principles.
• Practical experience in deploying low-latency C++ applications on embedded Linux systems.
• Professional background in designing and implementing state estimation algorithms, like EKF, UKF, Particle Filters, or graph-based optimization methods.
• Familiarity with VIO, SLAM, or multi-sensor fusion frameworks such as GTSAM, Ceres, or OpenVINS.
• Strong understanding of CI pipelines and automated testing frameworks for C++.
• Capability to independently deploy high-reliability code appropriate for real-world autonomous systems.
• Familiarity with prototyping utilizing Python or MATLAB.
• Preferred: in-depth knowledge of graph-based optimization for state estimation.
• Preferred: experience in developing vision-aided inertial navigation systems (VINS, VIO, Terrain Relative Navigation).
• Preferred: experience with navigation sensor calibration.
• Preferred: experience in benchmarking and validating system performance in real-world navigation scenarios.
