This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver hands-on technical leadership for the design, development, and advancement of contemporary software solutions that enhance the employee benefits experience.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers while establishing robust engineering practices.
• Oversee architecture, technical design, planning, and execution of intricate software solutions within distributed systems and cloud environments.
• Convert business and customer requirements into scalable, maintainable, and secure technical solutions.
• Direct teams in the design and creation of cloud-native, distributed, and event-driven applications and services.
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Engineering, and other stakeholders to define technical strategies, manage dependencies, identify risks, and propel initiatives forward.
• Offer technical insights into estimation, planning, sequencing, and delivery strategies.
• Evaluate designs, code, and technical methodologies for quality, scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Remain actively involved in software development and contribute code where it adds the most technical value.
• Revamp legacy applications and platforms toward domain-oriented, cloud-native architectures.
• Assist teams in navigating technology and organizational transformations from traditional development practices to Agile and iterative delivery methodologies.
• Define clear domain boundaries and minimize unnecessary coupling between systems and services.
• Advocate for automated testing, CI/CD, observability, proactive monitoring, and operational excellence.
• Guide engineers through complex technical challenges and promote continuous learning and engineering excellence.
• Leverage data, experimentation, and engineering metrics to assess solutions and drive enhancements.
• Stay updated on Generative AI and Agentic AI, identifying responsible applications for engineering and customer solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Over 10 years of professional software engineering experience, demonstrating a proven record of technical leadership.
• Established experience in leading the technical design and delivery of complex software systems.
• Proficient in C# and .NET / ASP.NET.
• Strong background in building and consuming RESTful APIs and designing API-driven architectures.
• Solid proficiency in React and/or Angular.
• Experience in designing and developing distributed, event-driven systems, including Kafka or similar event-streaming technologies.
• Familiarity with developing and managing cloud-native applications and services in AWS and/or Azure.
• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL database technologies.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Proven experience in transitioning teams or organizations from waterfall to Agile development methodologies.
• Strong grasp of software architecture, design patterns, scalability, reliability, security, and performance.
• Familiarity with automated testing, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies.
• Strong understanding of software security principles and OWASP guidelines.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with the capacity to influence technical decisions across teams without formal authority.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and provide technical direction while remaining an individual contributor.
• A history of delivering complex technical initiatives and making informed trade-offs among scope, quality, risk, and delivery.
