This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Prepare individual tax returns (1040s) for existing clients and gradually for new clients gained through organic marketing strategies.
• Manage simpler business tax returns (1120-S, 1065, 1120) when client circumstances are suitable.
• Refer complex business scenarios as necessary.
• Prepare estate and trust tax returns (1041) when appropriate.
• File quarterly estimated taxes.
• Handle notices and correspondence from the IRS and state tax authorities.
• Respond to routine IRS notices on behalf of clients.
• Collaborate with financial advisors on integrated tax and financial planning, including Roth conversions, capital gains events, state relocations, and other life events.
• Participate in regular team meetings, weekly stand-ups, and all-company quarterly gatherings, which include two virtual and two in-person meetings each year.
• Contribute to the development of internal standard operating procedures (SOPs) and workflows as the tax practice is established.
• Provide insights on software and process choices that will shape the long-term structure of the practice.
• Build the foundational tax practice with operational and financial backing from the established wealth advisory firm.
• CPA license is mandatory.
• 6 to 11 years of experience in tax at a public accounting firm or financial services company.
• Strong expertise in individual taxation (1040).
• Significant experience with business tax returns (1120-S, 1065) and some familiarity with estates and trusts (1041).
• Capable of independently completing 1040s to at least 95% accuracy.
• Ideally holds signing authority (PTIN) or is willing to obtain one.
• Experience communicating with the IRS and state tax agencies on behalf of clients, including handling notice responses and requests for penalty abatement.
• Technologically proficient and adaptable.
• Familiarity with modern tax or practice management software is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to independently manage a portfolio of tax returns.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for direct engagement with high-net-worth clients and daily collaboration with financial advisors.
• Consistent job history.
• Comfortable working remotely and managing one's own schedule outside of peak periods.
