Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and sustain the foundational infrastructure that powers Unikraft Cloud, both in hosted and on-premises environments.

• Create and execute the primary components of the platform at scale, incorporating native support for scale-to-zero, autoscaling, and robust isolation.

• Enhance performance, security, and reliability across various workloads.

• Develop stress harnesses, conduct soak runs, and perform regression checks to assess platform performance under realistic load conditions.

• Analyze race conditions, memory leaks, and other challenging system failures.

• Contribute to shaping the technical roadmap of the platform.

• Engage directly with users to gather insights and incorporate feedback into the platform.

• Collaborate closely with the founding team and technical specialists.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong expertise and programming abilities in C.

• Profound knowledge of systems-level programming.

• Experience in building and maintaining operating systems, embedded systems, and/or device drivers.

• Familiarity with memory management, concurrency, and performance enhancement.

• Understanding of virtualization technologies such as QEMU/KVM.

• Knowledge of micro-VMMs, such as Cloud Hypervisor or Firecracker, is advantageous.

• Solid understanding of Linux and its networking internals.

• Exceptional debugging skills with a methodical, forensic approach to reproducing, isolating, and resolving issues.

• Experience working with gcc, clang, C toolchains, build systems, and cross-compilation workflows.

• Familiarity with Rust is a plus.

• Strong teamwork and communication abilities.

• Willingness to work in the Europe, CET ±2hrs time zone.
