Senior Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take initiative in developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, redesigning, and refactoring software independently.

• Architect, operationalize, and enhance critical infrastructure that supports enterprise Data Center and Supply Chain platforms.

• Propel platform automation and implement modern GitOps deployment workflows.

• Ensure environment management is consistent, secure, and declarative.

• Oversee and optimize observability for platform metrics, dashboards, and log stream processing.

• Support high-availability platform architecture and ensure mission-critical uptime across hybrid environments.

• Engage in product and tool selection, configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning, and production monitoring.

• Collaborate with team members in agile processes and work alongside Product Teams on valuable, testable user stories.

• Create functional and destructive test suites for swift production deployment.

• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical discussions.

• Participate in rotational on-call support duties.

• Report to a Software Engineer Manager or Senior Manager; this position has no direct reports.

• Travel is not required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be at least eighteen years old.

• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Preferred 4-6 years of relevant work experience.

• In-depth technical knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Cloud Foundry / VMware Tanzu Application Services (TAS).

• Familiarity with Ansible, ArgoCD, and Flux.

• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and Fluentbit.

• Strong background in high-availability platform architecture, infrastructure-as-code, operational troubleshooting, and enterprise supply chain service resiliency.

• Rotational on-call responsibilities are required.

• Proven experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional, modern engineering team.

• Experience in troubleshooting and remediation across various Information Technology disciplines.

• Proficient in installing and upgrading applications or databases, as well as performing system maintenance.

• Knowledge of system and environment analysis, design, and optimization.

• Familiarity with debuggers, runtime analysis, library systems, compiled programming, and software update tools.

• Experience in monitoring, configuring, and tuning systems, networks, or databases.

• Proficient with operating system commands, utilities, and scripting.

• Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP and Azure.

• Experience supporting a 24x7 retail operation.

• Familiarity with version control systems.

• Experience with CI/CD toolchains.

• Knowledge of production system designs, including Infrastructure as Code, High Availability, and Performance monitoring.

• Exposure to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).

• At least 1 year of previous leadership experience.

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree in a related field.
