Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Lead intricate investigations into Citrix logon performance throughout all phases of the logon process.

• Examine customer logon data, contrasting environments with high and low performance, variations in subnets, inconsistencies among users, and outliers specific to machines.

• Perform packet-level analysis using Wireshark to address issues related to DNS, drive mapping, proxy/WPAD, and ICA sessions.

• Analyze error patterns in Azure Log Analytics and correlate them with logon timelines.

• Interpret data from Citrix Director, Logic Monitor, Power BI, and other sources to uncover systemic trends.

• Utilize AI tools to evaluate Citrix configuration data, policy exports, and relevant knowledge articles.

• Act as a subject matter expert on Group Policy Object (GPO) configurations for Citrix Virtual Delivery Agent (VDA) environments.

• Identify misconfigurations in GPOs, overlapping policies, legacy drifts, and the absence of best-practice settings.

• Create and sustain a library of GPO best practices and Citrix policy standards.

• Investigate issues related to proxy/WPAD/auto-proxy configurations and their downstream performance impacts.

• Review Optimus reports and automated audit results, driving necessary remediation.

• Analyze and enhance Citrix user profiles, including FSLogix containers and profile management.

• Evaluate and optimize HDX policies, EDT behaviors, virtual channels, and session reliability settings.

• Investigate double-hop scenarios, identifying improvements at the registry level and architectural enhancements.

• Assess the usage of StoreFront versus Citrix Workspace App and propose improvements.

• Design and refine the diagnostic playbook for the team.

• Create training materials, recorded sessions, and runbooks.

• Maintain a repository of lessons learned from customer investigations.

• Mentor Systems Engineers and facilitate knowledge-transfer sessions.

• Lead AI-assisted analyses and guide the use of PowerShell/Python for GPO auditing and data extraction.

• Collaborate with internal tooling teams to implement AI-based GPO audit and Citrix policy analysis capabilities.

• Within 60 days, evaluate logon performance for priority customers, rank root causes, provide remediation suggestions, and deliver the first iteration of the diagnostic playbook.

• Within 6 months, achieve measurable improvements in customer logon performance and systemic enhancements across the installation base.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of extensive, hands-on experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (XenApp/XenDesktop), including complex multi-site enterprise deployments, performance tuning, and advanced troubleshooting.

• In-depth understanding of the Citrix logon process and critical VDA and client-side metrics.

• Profound expertise in Windows Group Policy (GPO), encompassing design, troubleshooting, and optimization in Citrix VDA environments.

• Proficient in using Citrix Director for session analysis, breakdowns of logon phases, and troubleshooting.

• Experience with Wireshark or similar packet capture tools.

• Ability to correlate data from Power BI, Logic Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, event logs, and Citrix Director.

• Experience in documenting complex findings and formulating actionable processes and runbooks.

• Background in mentoring junior engineers.

• Preferred: extensive expertise in FSLogix.

• Preferred: experience with Azure cloud infrastructure, including Azure-hosted Citrix deployments, Azure Log Analytics, and Azure AD integration.

• Preferred: knowledge of Citrix StoreFront and Workspace App architecture.

• Preferred: familiarity with proxy settings, WPAD, and auto-proxy detection.

• Preferred: experience with Optimus/OptimistDB or similar configuration audit frameworks.

• Preferred: proficiency in PowerShell and/or Python scripting.

• Preferred: experience with AI/LLM tools such as Copilot, Gemini, or ChatGPT.

• Preferred: CCE-V certification or equivalent demonstrated expertise.

• Experience in healthcare IT or managed services is highly desirable.

• Preferred: exposure to double-hop Citrix architectures.
