Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sri Lanka.

📋 Description

• Act as a senior technical escalation resource for intricate incidents.

• Take ownership of significant and ongoing technical issues.

• Conduct advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across Microsoft 365, Microsoft security, identity, endpoints, as well as cloud and on-premises infrastructure.

• Design, build, configure, and deploy both infrastructure and security solutions.

• Assist with server, virtualization, networking, firewall, SD-WAN, remote-site, and security enhancement initiatives.

• Collaborate with senior engineers, project managers, and technical leaders during project implementations.

• Offer technical direction to Level 1 and Level 2 engineers.

• Evaluate technical changes for security, operational risk, and compliance concerns.

• Implement cybersecurity frameworks including the Australian Essential Eight.

• Develop and maintain solution designs, configurations, handover materials, and technical documentation.

• Ensure accurate ticketing, project, and service records within PSA and RMM platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven Level 3 or senior systems engineering experience in an MSP or a complex, multi-site IT setting.

• Advanced troubleshooting skills across Microsoft 365, Windows, cloud, and on-premises infrastructure.

• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft cloud technologies, security, identity, endpoint, and access management.

• Experience with servers, virtualization, networking, firewalls, and infrastructure deployments.

• Capability to manage complex incidents, identify root causes, and devise effective resolutions or escalation routes.

• Experience in contributing to or executing infrastructure and technology projects from configuration to deployment.

• Strong grasp of cybersecurity and compliance-focused environments.

• Familiarity with the Australian Essential Eight; experience with ISO-aligned, DISP, SOCI, or similar environments is highly regarded.

• MSP experience preferred; candidates from advanced internal IT environments may also be considered.

• Exposure to VMware, SD-WAN, Starlink, remote-community networks, IoT, cameras, alarms, or building systems is advantageous.

• Experience with PSA, RMM, and knowledge-management platforms is desirable.

• Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Intune, Purview, Defender for Endpoint, and Defender for Cloud.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Entra ID.

• Experience with SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.

• Familiarity with Google Workspace.

• Knowledge of EasyDMARC, ConnectSecure, and ThreatLocker.

• Familiarity with Blackpoint Cyber SOC/MDR and Keeper Password Manager.

• Experience with Exclaimer, Phriendly Phishing, Inforcer, and AdminDroid.

• Proficiency in Datadog.

• Experience with Datto Autotask PSA, Datto RMM, and Datto SaaS Protection.

• Knowledge of Hyper-V and VMware.

• Familiarity with 3CX voice systems and Adobe products.

• Experience with Fortinet firewalls.

• Knowledge of Ubiquiti networking, wireless, routing, security, and camera solutions.

• Familiarity with Ruckus Wi-Fi and D-Link networking technologies.

• Experience with Datto BCDR backup solutions.

• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with technical teams.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• High standards in technical documentation and knowledge sharing.
