System Engineer – Storage

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Lithuania.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, operate, and enhance highly available Object Storage platforms utilizing Ceph.

• Administer, monitor, maintain, and optimize extensive distributed storage environments.

• Ensure platform stability, performance, scalability, and security across data center infrastructures.

• Analyze customer needs and develop sustainable storage architectures tailored for modern enterprise workloads.

• Automate operational and deployment processes for improved efficiency.

• Conduct capacity planning, performance analysis, and proactive optimization.

• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and serve as an escalation point for advanced storage-related incidents.

• Contribute to the development of technical concepts, standards, and best practices for storage services.

• Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge base articles.

• Monitor advancements in Software-Defined Storage, Ceph, Object Storage, and cloud-native technologies, contributing ideas to platform strategy.


⛳️ Requirements

• A completed degree or vocational training in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Several years of practical experience in operating and administering enterprise storage environments.

• In-depth expertise in Ceph, Object Storage technologies, S3-compatible platforms, and distributed storage architectures.

• Experience with Linux-based systems and enterprise-scale environments.

• Understanding of replication, erasure coding, high availability, disaster recovery, and storage performance optimization.

• Familiarity with automation and infrastructure management tools like Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies.

• Knowledge of Kubernetes, container platforms, or cloud-native ecosystems is a significant advantage.

• Capability to analyze complex technical challenges and devise sustainable, pragmatic solutions.

• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and collaborate effectively within a team.

• Strong customer and service orientation.

• Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

• Proficiency in German is a plus.
