System Engineer, IBM POWER / AIX

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Lithuania.

📋 Description

• Oversee, configure, monitor, and manage the lifecycle of IBM POWER systems operating on AIX.

• Execute performance optimization, patch management, and troubleshooting tasks.

• Develop, maintain, and regularly update comprehensive system, architecture, and environment documentation in accordance with internal standards.

• Design, create, and implement automation solutions for operational and administrative processes utilizing scripting and orchestration tools.

• Assist with the architectural design, implementation, configuration, and ongoing management of new infrastructure components, including servers, operating systems, and associated services.

• Plan and carry out system rollouts, upgrades, and migrations.

• Perform risk assessments, testing, stakeholder coordination, and post-migration validation.


⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated hands-on experience in administering and configuring AIX systems in enterprise environments.

• Significant experience in managing enterprise storage infrastructures, such as HP 3PAR and IBM V7000; familiarity with additional storage technologies is advantageous.

• Experience with other Unix/Linux distributions.

• Proficient shell scripting skills for automation and troubleshooting purposes.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Methodical, independent, and accountable work approach.

• High degree of customer orientation.

• Service and solution-oriented mindset.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Capability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Business-fluent English language skills, both written and spoken.

• Proficiency in German is considered a plus.
