This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design, balance, maintain, and iterate on progression systems, currencies, reward structures, monetization systems, and other essential game systems.
• Analyze complex system and economy issues, identify root causes, and create effective solutions.
• Develop spreadsheet models to simulate progression, balance economies, and predict outcomes.
• Lead design projects from problem identification and scope definition through to implementation and launch in collaboration with Product, Engineering, Creative, Community, and other designers.
• Utilize data, player behavior, and community feedback to inform decision-making, establish success metrics, and assess outcomes.
• Enhance tools, frameworks, documentation, and processes, including scripting, AI, and automation.
• Participate in live-ops on-call rotation for several days each month and address urgent issues as they arise.
• Monitor player sentiment, community discussions, and trends within the free-to-play mobile market.
• Mentor, support, and collaborate with fellow designers.
• 3-5 years of experience in game design, particularly in systems or economy design.
• Experience with free-to-play games, ideally in live service mobile gaming.
• Profound understanding of F2P economies, progression, monetization, and retention mechanics.
• Strong familiarity with the free-to-play mobile landscape and a genuine interest in its games, systems, and player behaviors.
• Excellent spreadsheet skills and experience in creating models to simulate balance, progression, or economic results.
• Strong data literacy, including knowledge of F2P KPIs and the ability to use data to investigate issues and assess design modifications.
• Proven experience managing design projects through implementation, launch, analysis, and iterative improvements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of clearly articulating complex systems and design reasoning across various disciplines.
• Experience in strategy, farming, puzzle adventure/exploration, or match-3 games (preferred).
• Familiarity with SQL queries and/or Looker (preferred).
