Junior Technical Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Directly report to the Lead Game Designer.

• Collaborate with the Game Design Team and key stakeholders to brainstorm and create creatures, structures, items, and essential gameplay systems.

• Balance gameplay by adjusting stats and figures for items, creatures, and progression systems.

• Utilize Unreal Editor to integrate game assets.

• Configure Data Assets and Class Defaults.

• Adjust simple Blueprints as needed.

• Create, maintain, and revise design documentation.

• Communicate progress, technical challenges, and actionable solutions to the Lead Game Designer.

• Manage several overlapping tasks and projects while adapting to shifting priorities in a live survival game.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong familiarity with the ARK Franchise and active gameplay of ARK: Survival Ascended.

• Practical experience with the ARK DevKit or Unreal Engine 4 or 5.

• Excellent critical thinking and analytical capabilities.

• Demonstrated proficiency in numerical balancing for intricate game systems, including combat, economy, or progression.

• Highly organized, self-driven, dedicated, adaptable, and responsible.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capability to collaborate effectively across various disciplines.

• Willingness to work extended hours during critical shipping periods.

• Availability to work core hours from 10:00 AM PST to 4:00 PM PST.

• Resume submission required.

• Cover letter required, detailing interest in the role, enthusiasm for Studio Wildcard, and currently played games.

• Preferred: credited experience on shipped titles as a Junior Technical Designer or in a similar technical capacity.

• Preferred: prior professional experience in game design and development.

• Preferred: background in creating and publishing mods, particularly for the ARK franchise.

• Preferred: passion for the survival game genre.
