SVP – Non-QM Capital Markets

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Oversee the daily functions of the Non-QM Underwriting team.

• Collaborate with the VP of Underwriting to establish KPIs and workflows.

• Supervise daily operations of the underwriting team, ensuring timely loan assignments for decision-making.

• Support underwriters with escalated scenarios, urgent requests, conditions, and newly submitted loans to achieve departmental turnaround times.

• Ensure that training materials are compliant with current lending regulations, investor guidelines, and company policies.

• Assess underwriting quality, pinpoint areas for improvement, and develop focused learning plans.

• Work with leadership to set performance benchmarks and metrics for training effectiveness.

• Offer coaching, mentoring, and continuous support to underwriters and support staff.

• Uphold production goals and standards in alignment with KPIs and production metrics.

• Support the organization’s goals and values, encourage feedback, and foster a positive team atmosphere.

• Stay updated on trends, regulations, and best practices in the mortgage underwriting industry.

• Manage leadership and staff within the Underwriting department, including recruitment, performance management, coaching, and employee development.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mortgage underwriting.

• Comprehensive understanding of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and USDA guidelines.

• At least 3 years of supervisory or management experience in mortgage underwriting or training.

• Extensive knowledge of mortgage underwriting guidelines, investor requirements, and regulatory compliance.

• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and investor regulations.

• Proven experience in driving departmental enhancements, managing risks, and leading high-performance teams.

• Strong leadership and coaching abilities to inspire and develop staff.

• Reliable internet connection.

• A quiet, professional workspace.

• Preferred: DE (Direct Endorsement) and/or SAR (Staff Appraisal Reviewer) certifications.

• Preferred: Strong skills in instructional design and training delivery (both in-person and virtual).

• Preferred: Track record of enhancing underwriting quality and compliance through training programs.

• Preferred: Strong project management capabilities with experience in leading cross-functional training initiatives.

• Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and ticketing systems.

• Capability to work for extended periods at a desk and on a computer.

• Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
