This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the foundation fundraising program at Covenant House International.
• Obtain transformational philanthropic investments, ranging from seven to eight figures, from private foundations.
• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and nurture major commitments from foundations.
• Enhance the foundation portfolio by establishing new relationships with international, national, regional, family, and private foundations.
• Manage a significant portfolio of foundation prospects and funders.
• Create strategies that support core operations, programs, capital projects, endowment opportunities, international initiatives, and policy efforts.
• Facilitate funding discussions and negotiate major grant awards and multi-year commitments.
• Set annual revenue goals and performance indicators.
• Track trends in institutional philanthropy and pinpoint strategic investment opportunities.
• Cultivate relationships with foundation presidents, executive directors, trustees, program officers, philanthropic advisors, and representatives from family offices.
• Design tailored cultivation and stewardship strategies.
• Organize site visits, executive briefings, funder meetings, and strategic engagement activities.
• Ensure efficient grant reporting and stewardship practices.
• Lead, mentor, and develop foundation relations officers and grant writers.
• Set performance expectations, accountability measures, and professional development plans.
• Foster a high-performing, collaborative team culture.
• Enhance proposal development, grant management, prospect tracking, and stewardship systems.
• Coordinate frontline fundraising and grant writing initiatives.
• Collaborate with donor relations, corporate partnerships, affiliate relations, marketing and communications, finance, programs, executive leadership, and board members.
• Develop compelling support cases in partnership with program leaders.
• Participate in the revenue organization leadership team and contribute to fundraising strategies and organizational growth.
• Represent Covenant House to foundation leaders and external stakeholders.
• Advocate for collaboration, accountability, integrity, inclusion, and collective success.
• Provide strategic insights on philanthropy trends, institutional funding opportunities, and revenue diversification.
• At least 12-15 years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising.
• Extensive experience in foundation relations and institutional giving.
• Proven success in securing seven- and eight-figure grants and multi-year commitments from private foundations.
• Demonstrated ability to obtain seven- and eight-figure grants from national, regional, family, and private foundations.
• Experience in building and managing portfolios of major foundation prospects and funders.
• Significant experience in developing new foundation partnerships and generating substantial new revenue.
• Record of success in leading foundation fundraising strategies that promote sustained revenue growth.
• Experience in managing frontline fundraising professionals and grant writing teams.
• Proven experience in collaborating with executive leaders, board members, program staff, and external stakeholders.
• Experience in managing large funding opportunities involving multiple stakeholders and organizational departments.
• Demonstrated capacity to work independently and consistently reach ambitious fundraising goals with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to travel as necessary.
• In-depth knowledge of foundation fundraising and institutional philanthropy.
• Strong understanding of the foundation landscape.
• Proven ability to identify, cultivate, and secure new foundation funding relationships.
• Expertise in comprehensive institutional fundraising strategies.
• Exceptional skills in relationship-building, writing, editing, proposal development, presentations, verbal communication, strategic thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, grant budgeting, compliance, stewardship, reporting, project management, and organizational skills.
