Sustainable Finance Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya.

📋 Description

• Create financial models focused on investments in climate mitigation and adaptation.

• Perform due diligence on transactions aligned with climate goals.

• Assist in structuring solutions for green and blue finance.

• Produce comprehensive reports on sustainable finance subjects, including the transition to renewable energy, climate-aligned debt instruments, low-carbon and climate-resilient transportation, nature-based solutions, biodiversity finance, climate-smart agriculture, water security, and climate adaptation in the built environment.

• Investigate and evaluate climate impacts, risks, and financial solutions across energy transition, climate-smart agriculture, water and food security, resilient infrastructure, and ecosystem restoration sectors.

• Develop presentations, technical documents, and financial briefing materials for climate finance advisory projects.

• Research climate data, climate risk metrics, climate impact measurement frameworks, and market opportunities pertinent to investment projects.

• Organize and assist with events related to climate finance.

• Manage climate-focused projects and interact with key stakeholders in the climate finance and development ecosystem.

• Contribute to projects that are climate and nature-positive, ensuring that deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.

• Aid in the design and implementation of investment solutions that promote climate resilience, net-zero transitions, and nature-positive outcomes.

• Candidates must reside in Nairobi.

• Must have a home office setup that accommodates full-time remote work.

• Strong proficiency in Excel is essential.

• Understanding of financial modeling fundamentals.

• Comfortable with quantitative analysis and capable of building and interpreting financial models.

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

• Proven understanding of how climate risks and opportunities influence investment decisions and finance structuring.

• A strong desire to deepen expertise in climate finance, green investment structuring, and climate impact measurement.

• Proficient report writing capabilities on technical climate and finance topics.

• Excellent ability to manage project timelines.

• Ability to work autonomously and deliver accurate results within deadlines.

• Collaborative and adaptable in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

• Desirable skills include climate risk assessment, climate scenario modeling, climate impact quantification, presentation design, and experience in building financial models for green and climate investments.

• Fluency in English is mandatory.

• Fluency in a second language is highly advantageous.

• Recent graduates with a background in Finance, Economics, Sustainable Finance, or related fields are encouraged to apply.

• Demonstrated interest and ability in climate finance or climate solutions.

• Evidence of climate expertise through coursework, projects, research, or professional experiences.

• Solid understanding of climate science, climate risks, or climate finance solutions and their implications for investment decisions.

• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Comfort with quantitative tools is expected.
