Sustainability Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Assist with RSB Advisory Services projects related to sustainable feedstocks, biofuels, traceability, Book and Claim systems, standards, certification, GHG emission savings, and LCA.

• Execute project work packages and tasks within established contract timelines and due dates.

• Create reports, practical guidelines, presentations, and training materials for both internal and external audiences.

• Lead, perform, and coordinate LCA and GHG assessments in line with RSB, CORSIA, EU RED, and other relevant methodologies.

• Offer technical expertise on LCA and GHG emissions topics across various areas including feedstocks, bioenergy, bioplastics, Power-to-X, aviation, fuels, and chemicals.

• Assist in the development and updates of RSB LCA GHG methodologies, GHG Tool, and Standards.

• Conduct literature reviews, benchmarking, and gap analyses of sustainability standards, policies, and guidance.

• Investigate feedstock alternatives, responsible sourcing, environmental and social trade-offs, supply chains, land use, degraded land, and ILUC.

• Facilitate stakeholder engagement and maintain records of engagements when applicable.

• Implement RSB standards, certification mechanisms, frameworks, and proprietary environmental and social risk tools.

• Aid in client engagement, needs identification, and proposal development for biomaterials and related advisory projects.

• Support assessments of feedstocks, biofuel/biomaterial processing frameworks, LCA GHG assessments, certification benchmarks, gap analyses, and training initiatives.

• Track, document, archive, and finalize proposal and project-related information.

• Follow up on contracts, update project data, monitor invoices, maintain documentation, and refresh digital folders and platforms.

• Coordinate with external consultants involved in project delivery when necessary.

• Report to the Director of Advisory Services and the Sustainability Manager GHG expert; collaborate with Programs, Sustainability Foundations, and Secretariat teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's degree or equivalent experience in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 10 years of relevant professional experience.

• Proven expertise in LCA GHG calculation and assessment methodologies.

• Experience in leading the execution of complex projects.

• Background in bioenergy/biofuels or chemicals and materials.

• Strong analytical and technical writing capabilities.

• Proficiency in English.

• Effective communication skills for project management.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office software.

• Ability to convert complex technical issues into actionable business recommendations.

• Strong skills in stakeholder engagement.

• Capacity to work independently in a remote, international setting.

• Comfort with navigating evolving methodological landscapes.

• High attention to detail and a commitment to scientific rigor.

• Excellent project management and prioritization abilities.

• Resilience in meeting strict project deadlines and managing client needs.

• Interest in market transformation, sustainable fuels, and high-integrity climate solutions.

• Strong interpersonal skills.

• Experience with regulatory frameworks, including EU-RED and CORSIA systems, sustainability standards, and renewable energy certificates (preferred).

• Familiarity with widely accepted GHG methodologies and tools (preferred).

• Knowledge of sustainability certification systems such as RSB (preferred).

• Experience collaborating with multinational companies on climate strategy or sustainability reporting (preferred).

• Candidates must reside in Spain and have a valid work permit for Spain.
