This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the field and office survey team at Ascent Geomatics Solutions for the DJ Basin oil and gas initiative.

• Oversee the survey phase of designated projects, reporting directly to the Director of Survey.

• Create survey work plans, allocate resources across multiple concurrent projects, and adapt priorities as circumstances evolve.

• Collaborate with Project Managers to define survey scope, deliverables, effort estimates, assumptions, milestones, tasks, owners, and dependencies.

• Balance the workload of field crews, office survey technicians, equipment, and review capacity across various assignments.

• Guide coordinators and supervisors in daily scheduling and task management responsibilities.

• Manage survey tasks from initial research and field preparation to data collection, processing, and CAD drafting.

• Coordinate deliverables for boundary, topographic, route, construction staking, as-built, ALTA/NSPS, well location certificates, right-of-way, aerial mapping, and LiDAR surveys.

• Integrate QA/QC and PLS/RPLS review into schedules, ensuring that all comments are addressed.

• Sign and seal survey deliverables as permitted by licensing and assignments.

• Confirm field readiness, access, equipment, safety, and execution in collaboration with field leadership and Safety and Fleet support.

• Review hours, utilization, completed tasks, remaining effort, variances, forecasts, scope changes, delays, and rework efforts.

• Take ownership of delivery issues and formulate recovery plans until resolution is achieved.

• Mentor field and office staff, including assigned supervisors.

• Conduct one-on-one meetings and performance evaluations for direct reports.

• Lead staffing, hiring, onboarding, employee development, and performance management in conjunction with HR and leadership.

• Supervise department capacity, coverage, compliance, and personnel actions within the scope of delegated authority.

• Recommend and implement approved enhancements to equipment or workflows.


⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive progressive experience in land surveying with a proven understanding of both field and office operations.

• Minimum of five years of experience in project, client, and staff management, with direct responsibility for leading teams and coordinating survey deliverables.

• Experience in providing land surveying services for oil and gas projects, including well sites, pipelines, or facilities.

• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent survey assignments with Project Managers, covering field and office workloads, effort planning, progress tracking, and resolving delivery issues.

• Demonstrated capability to develop staff, enhance survey workflows, and coordinate technical decisions and deliverable reviews with designated PLS/RPLS personnel.

• Remote employees must reside in and perform work within the United States.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States and available to work within continental U.S. time zones.

• Reliable internet access and a designated, quiet workspace are required.

• Ability to sit and work at a computer for prolonged periods.

• Capability to review detailed drawings, maps, technical documentation, spreadsheets, and other role-specific materials for extended durations.

• Active Colorado Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensure is preferred, but not mandatory.

• A degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

• Advanced proficiency with Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS platforms, or survey databases is preferred.

• Familiarity with photogrammetry, aerial or terrestrial LiDAR, and survey workflow integration is preferred.

• Knowledge of Colorado upstream development and survey information supporting ECMC and local permitting is preferred.
