Surgical Certified Procedural Coding Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate under guidance to read and interpret health record documentation for identifying all diagnoses and procedures.

• Evaluate the sufficiency of health record documentation to ensure it adequately supports all assigned diagnoses and procedures.

• Utilize knowledge of anatomy, physiology, clinical disease processes, pharmacology, and diagnostic and procedural terminology to accurately assign codes.

• Employ understanding of disease processes and surgical procedures to classify non-indexed medical terms into the appropriate classification/nomenclature category.

• Implement UHDDS definitions to determine the principal diagnosis and principal procedures.

• Leverage Prospective Payment System knowledge to verify DRGs and APCs.

• Utilize ICD-10 and CPT coding expertise to aid patient billing services in submitting accurate medical-necessity claims.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED along with two years of coding experience.

• Must possess a solid understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding.

• Certification is required in one of the following areas: CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA.

• Candidates must provide proof of legal authority to work in the United States by the first day of employment.

• The position is subject to pre-employment screening, including criminal background checks, drug testing, and/or education verification.

• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in health information management or a related field.

• Preferred: Associate's degree in health information management or a related field.
