Coding Specialist, Physician Billing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +16 more states.

📋 Description

• Assess clinical documentation and accurately allocate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and CPT-4 procedure codes.

• Conduct evaluation and management (E/M) coding across relevant places of service.

• Code minor office procedures, specialty-specific tests, outpatient treatments, and minor surgical procedures.

• Ensure coding precision and adherence to established coding guidelines along with applicable state and federal regulations.

• Examine medical records to validate proper code assignment and ensure accurate billing by physicians.

• Detect and address coding discrepancies or documentation concerns in line with established protocols.

• Keep up-to-date with coding guidelines, regulatory standards, and specialty-specific coding practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience in Clinical Documentation (Required).

• 1–2 years of experience in Evaluation and Management (E/M) coding (Required).

• 1–2 years of physician coding experience, encompassing CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS (Required).

• 1–2 years of experience in outpatient procedural coding (Required).

• 1–2 years of experience in coding minor outpatient and office procedures (Required).

• High School Diploma (Required).

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based (CCS-P) (Required).

• CPC or equivalent certification required.

• Specialty certification is preferred.

• Must reside in one of the following remote approved states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, or Wyoming.
