Surgical Applications Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the designated territory by reaching out to customers, scheduling high-volume on-site training sessions, arranging travel logistics, and addressing customer inquiries.

• Provide customized training to physicians and staff regarding the operation of medical devices and their clinical applications.

• Respond to intricate questions, troubleshoot issues, and conduct follow-up visits as necessary.

• Track customer engagement with the ZEISS Surgical Suite and relay feedback to management and the Surgical Suite sales team.

• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the ophthalmic surgical sector and competing devices.

• Coordinate on-site training sessions with Surgical Application Specialists in nearby territories and offer assistance in other areas as required.

• Keep product knowledge on Carl Zeiss products up to date.

• Work in collaboration with marketing and surgical sales teams to ensure training materials are current.

• Attend and provide support at trade shows, conferences, exhibits, and seminars.

• Act as the customer subject matter expert for technical and clinical issues related to the Surgical Suite, resolving challenging situations.

• Identify and relay sales leads, influence purchasing decisions, and provide sales support.

• Complete administrative responsibilities including managing calendars, preparing expense reports, utilizing CRM systems, and maintaining product training checklists.

• Assist in the field training of new Surgical Application Specialists and Sales Representatives.

• Offer feedback on feature improvements to product managers.

• Develop training content and deliver lectures and workshops.

• Support management in resolving field issues and train on ancillary surgical instruments when schedules allow.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in an ophthalmic surgical environment, ophthalmic industry, or a related field.

• Possess comprehensive knowledge of cataract surgery and IOL calculations, as well as ocular anatomy and pathology relevant to ophthalmic surgery.

• Must have industry-standard credentials.

• Strong communication skills and teaching capabilities are necessary to guide customers in a surgical setting.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills along with teaching abilities to engage with customers in challenging scenarios.

• Demonstrate outstanding judgment and decision-making abilities following established procedures and practices to determine suitable solutions.

• Moderate computer skills and familiarity with software programs (Microsoft Office—Word, Excel).

• Ability to manage difficult situations and interact effectively and harmoniously with various personnel, both internally and externally, at all levels.

• Willingness to travel overnight and work occasional weekends.

• Highly organized and capable of working independently without supervision.

• Must be able to secure sufficient credit to cover incurred business expenses, which will be reimbursed following expense report submission and approval.

• Requires a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
