Surety Underwriting Manager – Transactional

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and assess surety bond applications and submissions to identify risk levels and establish underwriting terms.

• Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and other pertinent documents to determine the financial stability of applicants.

• Collaborate with brokers, agents, and clients to collect necessary information for an accurate assessment of bond risks.

• Build and nurture relationships with brokers, agents, and industry professionals.

• Provide mentorship and support to junior underwriters or team members.

• Keep informed about industry trends, regulations, underwriting practices, and competitor activities.

• Work with the Automation Team to integrate bond types and risks into the surety bond platform.

• Stay informed about obligee requirements and any statutory changes.

• Complete additional projects and tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Significant experience (7+ years) in surety underwriting or a related field.

• Strong analytical abilities with the capability to interpret financial data effectively.

• Familiarity with surety bond principles, including indemnity agreements and various bond forms.

• Excellent decision-making skills and a keen attention to detail.

• Proficient in underwriting software and relevant tools.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Capacity to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks efficiently.
