This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Implement and continuously enhance Mortenson’s Supplier Quality Management System across designated Energy and Infrastructure Operating Groups, projects, suppliers, and equipment categories.
• Promote the adoption of standardized supplier quality procedures, risk assessments, templates, work instructions, records, and requirements.
• Integrate supplier quality controls into supplier selection, procurement documents, project planning, manufacturing oversight, equipment release, and project closure.
• Create and deliver practical training and translate lessons learned into repeatable program enhancements.
• Formulate and execute risk-based audit plans for new, critical, and underperforming suppliers.
• Conduct audits for supplier qualification, quality systems, manufacturing processes, surveillance, and corrective actions.
• Assess supplier capability, capacity, QMS maturity, process controls, inspection/testing, traceability, calibration, nonconformance management, change management, and corrective action systems.
• Document audit findings, articulate risks, assign actions, and ensure timely and effective resolution.
• Develop Supplier Quality Plans and risk-based Inspection and Test Plans.
• Establish review, witness, hold, and surveillance points with notification requirements, acceptance criteria, responsibilities, evidence, and release conditions.
• Review supplier quality plans, procedures, test plans, inspection methods, critical characteristics, special processes, and sub-tier controls.
• Plan and execute source inspections, first-article inspections, manufacturing surveillance, pre-shipment inspections, and documentation reviews.
• Ensure that supplier quality requirements are communicated through purchase orders, specifications, quality agreements, and sub-tier suppliers.
• Develop and maintain Factory Acceptance Testing templates, checklists, readiness criteria, and equipment-specific testing requirements.
• Coordinate FAT scope, responsibilities, acceptance criteria, witness requirements, documentation, and scheduling.
• Lead or assist with FAT readiness reviews, witness testing, evaluate results, and monitor failed tests, deviations, and punch-list items until closure.
• Verify comprehensive and acceptable objective evidence prior to shipment authorization.
• Lead or assist with supplier containment, SCARs, root cause analysis, corrective actions, effectiveness verification, and escalation.
• Monitor audit results, nonconformities, corrective action timelines, recurring issues, and supplier performance trends.
• Communicate quality risks, business impacts, ownership, release status, and mitigation strategies to internal and external stakeholders.
• Facilitate supplier quality workshops, kickoff meetings, audit closeouts, FAT planning sessions, and corrective action reviews.
• Cultivate constructive supplier relationships while ensuring accountability for contractual and quality obligations.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Estimating, Quality, Project Teams, and suppliers.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Operations Management, Manufacturing Technology, Quality, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be accepted.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, quality engineering, quality systems, auditing, engineering, manufacturing, or construction.
• Experience in auditing manufacturing facilities and assessing quality management systems and manufacturing controls.
• Proficient understanding of ISO 9001 principles, auditing techniques, nonconformance management, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, purchase requirements, inspection criteria, test procedures, and quality records.
• Strong skills in implementation, project management, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder influence.
• Capability to work across multiple Operating Groups and understand electrical and industrial equipment and manufacturing processes.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%, including internationally, when necessary.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status.
• Preferred: ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, ASQ CQA, CQE, CSQP, CMQ/OE, or a similar certification.
• Preferred: Experience in implementing an SQMS and executing ITPs, FATs, source inspections, manufacturing surveillance, quality hold points, supplier qualification, SCAR/CAPA, scorecards, and supplier development.
• Preferred: Experience in construction, renewable energy, power infrastructure, electrical equipment, or industrial manufacturing.
