Supplier Quality Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Oversee, manage, document, monitor, and evaluate the quality system for medium to large projects.

• Spearhead the planning, development, and execution of Quality Management Plans from the notice to proceed phase through to final customer acceptance.

• Establish and direct quality control initiatives, implement three-phase inspection processes, and instigate corrective actions.

• Assess project plans for quality requirements prior to the issuance of construction drawings.

• Handle Quality Events, corrective actions, punch list identification, and project closeout.

• Manage Non-Conformance Notices and Requests for Information until corrective actions are completed.

• Address issues with or without the guidance of the Project Manager or Superintendent.

• Supervise and coordinate third-party peer design and testing agencies.

• Oversee project subcontracts and supplier relationships.

• Conduct site visits to evaluate the quality programs of key project suppliers.

• Mentor and coach Field Engineers and Project Engineers.

• Assign job responsibilities and support career development.

• Educate others on Kaizen event roles and visual management practices.

• Engage in and facilitate group Kaizen activities.

• Lead by example, providing coaching, feedback, and performance management to team members.

• Maintain quality processes until project completion.

• Undertake special projects or initiatives designated by the operating group quality director.

• Ensure project success when tasked with managing a project or a portion of a project as Project Manager or Superintendent.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

• At least three years of experience in design, engineering, or construction, with a focus on leading a project’s quality system.

• Expertise in issue management and inspection of completed work.

• Completed training in basic project management and supervision.

• Valid driver’s license.

• Strong attention to detail for organizing and managing multiple project tasks.

• Basic knowledge of construction law and commonly accepted business practices.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Primavera Unifier.

• Demonstrated positive and professional demeanor, along with strong customer service skills.

• Capability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies effectively.

• Familiarity with one or more quality systems, such as Malcolm Baldridge, ISO 9000, Lean, Kaizen, Army Corps of Engineers, Mortenson’s Quality System, continuous improvement, or value streams.

• Active listening abilities and effective communication skills, including receptiveness to diverse input and feedback.

• Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.
