Supplier Quality Development Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Conduct audits of manufacturing partners and assist with both internal and external certification audits.

• Ensure timely resolution of audit findings and actions through effective follow-up.

• Assist manufacturing partners and the sales team in meeting quality documentation requirements.

• Enhance systems and processes for order intake, quality review, and compliance with requirements.

• Facilitate customer quality and compliance surveys along with corrective action requests.

• Collaborate with Supply Chain Teams to source, select, qualify, and onboard new suppliers.

• Track and promote supplier performance and development in relation to capabilities and quality benchmarks.

• Identify and implement manufacturing best practices to ensure consistency across the network.

• Aid in the development of new capabilities, including technologies, materials, inspection methods, and post-processing techniques.

• Create scalable processes for managing supplier relationships and performance.

• Supervise underperforming manufacturing partners and establish improvement objectives.

• Provide data-driven recommendations for the off-boarding of manufacturing partners that fail to resolve issues.

• Benchmark and apply best practices throughout the manufacturing partner network.

• Willingness to travel 30% to 50% within the US and Mexico.

• Willingness to travel 30-50% within the US and Mexico.

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical), Physical Science, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

• Familiarity with quality systems and practices within a manufacturing setting.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position.

• An analytical and risk-oriented mindset with a data-driven approach to quality management.

• Experience in a regulated environment is essential.

• Ideally, possess lead auditor experience for ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 13485.

• Experience with CNC machining is required.

• Experience with injection molding is necessary.

• Nice to have: Experience with 3DP and/or sheet metal is a significant advantage.

• Familiarity with reviewing PPAP documents is preferred.
