Supplier Advisor – Kaitohu Whakarato

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Zealand.

📋 Description

• Perform ongoing market research and spend analysis to uncover trends, identify savings opportunities, and enhance processes.

• Collaborate with business units to comprehend value-for-money results and category goals.

• Oversee the complete procurement cycle, which includes planning, RFx development, tender evaluations, and contract negotiations.

• Provide guidance on procurement strategies, market approach options, and cross-agency initiatives.

• Examine and draft contracts to ensure they are feasible and align with organizational requirements.

• Manage supplier performance, maintain preferred supplier lists, and coordinate panel arrangements to enhance compliance, value, and ongoing improvement.

• Assist in the development and enhancement of procurement tools, templates, and processes.

• Work alongside internal stakeholders and external suppliers to achieve procurement objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a comparable procurement or category management position.

• Familiarity with the Government Procurement Rules is advantageous.

• Strong analytical abilities to assess complex commercial scenarios and deliver practical solutions.

• Proven experience in influencing and negotiating with stakeholders, suppliers, and senior management.

• Experience in managing contractual processes, supported by solid contract documentation and a thorough understanding of contract law.

• Strong skills in relationship-building and partnering.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and both internal and external stakeholders.

• Awareness of the significance of the Māori Crown relationship to DOC.

• A valid New Zealand work visa that covers the entire duration of employment.

• Preferred tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in procurement and/or the commercial sector.

• Progressing towards MCIPS certification would be a bonus.
