Supervisor, Profee Enterprise Coding – Surgery & Anesthesia

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee hospital or professional coding teams while assisting management in the daily operations of the department.

• Facilitate activities related to reimbursement, coding, abstracting, productivity, quality, and education.

• Aid in the implementation and delivery of medical coding, abstracting, auditing, monitoring, and education for physicians and coders across clinics and hospitals.

• Ensure adherence to federal and state healthcare coding standards, regulations, administrative requirements, and guidance.

• Maintain acceptable levels of coding backlogs, work queues, and charge lag.

• Serve as a coding expert for coders, providers, revenue cycle teams, specialty groups, and meetings.

• Manage coding staff activities, including interviewing, hiring, coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations in collaboration with management.

• Develop and uphold coding policies, procedures, and training resources.

• Identify budgetary requirements and uphold fiscal responsibility.

• Conduct or supervise internal and external audits focused on medical record documentation, coding, and billing compliance.

• Analyze and resolve issues impacting coding and billing processes.

• Extract, analyze, and present data to management.

• Act as a liaison with vendors, providing input and testing information systems.

• Assist with coding tasks as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.

• Valid HIM/Coding Certification from AHIMA or AAPC.

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in medical coding.

• Associate degree or higher in Health Information Management or a related field is preferred.

• Previous clinical experience as an RN, LPN, or Medical Assistant is highly desirable.

• Extensive proficiency in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, MS-DRG, HCC, and APR-DRG assignments; multi-specialty coding; E&M coding; procedural/surgical coding; and understanding of governmental billing and coding regulations, including Teaching Physician Guidelines.

• Prior supervisory or project management experience is required.

• Seven (7) years of medical coding experience is preferred.

• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Familiarity with provider healthcare compliance, revenue cycle operations, and auditing techniques.

• Ability to mentor, instruct, and train others.

• Capability to ensure quality and productivity standards are met.

• Competence in managing high-stress and critical situations with composure and professionalism.

• Ability to maintain accuracy despite frequent interruptions.

• Independent decision-making skills.
