Substitute Teacher – Secondary Foreign Language

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide virtual support for the learning programs at Connections Academy schools nationwide from a secure home office.

• Serve as the teacher of record at various Connections Academy schools during short- or long-term absences or vacancies, typically lasting between 2 to 20 weeks, with an average duration of 8 to 12 weeks.

• Be available online for students, parents, and school staff from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm in the school’s time zone while on assignment.

• Regularly communicate with parents, students, and teachers to develop and update individualized learning plans and schedules.

• Offer feedback on student assignments and recommend instructional strategies and approaches.

• Monitor the completion of assignments and verify student learning progress.

• Complete grading, create progress reports, and conduct parent conferences.

• Facilitate synchronous and asynchronous web conferencing sessions (LiveLessons).

• Assist students and parents with alternative instructional strategies, daily assignments, and projects.

• Maintain current student records and data, including cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance, and student logs.

• Collaborate with counselors and special educators to address individual student needs.

• Provide regular updates on student behaviors and classroom activities.

• Check emails when not on assignment for future assignments and updates from Substitute Services.

• Conduct monthly meetings with an assigned Substitute Services supervisor via video conferencing.

• Complete mandatory professional learning throughout the academic year.

• Keep all certifications active.

• Must be highly qualified and possess a valid and active full state teaching certification.

• Additional state certifications are a plus.

• Ability to obtain certification in other states upon request.

• Ability to secure additional clearances as necessary.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher is required.

• A dedicated, distraction-free home working environment is essential for conducting all business activities.

• Availability during assigned school hours, typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm in the school’s time zone, for long-term assignments.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment that demands flexibility, prioritization, self-direction, and creativity.

• Familiarity with IEP/504 plans and their virtual implementation.

• Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills are required.

• Demonstrated commitment to student achievement.

• Proficient technology skills; experience with learning management systems, Microsoft Office, and Google Apps is preferred.

• Reliable, high-speed internet access is mandatory.

• A computer equipped with Microsoft OS and Microsoft Office is required (PC preferred).

• A customer-focused approach and a proven track record as a team player are essential.

• Must not provide care for others during regular school hours while on assignment; alternative care arrangements are needed.

• Must not engage in other employment during regular school hours while on assignment.

• Required to complete orientation and training programs within 30 days of hire and at the start of each school year.

• Two-step authentication will be necessary to access systems if offered the position.
