Substitute Teacher, K-5

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.

📋 Description

• Provide virtual support for the learning program to students in Connections Academy schools nationwide from a secure, distraction-free home office.

• Serve as the teacher of record at various Connections Academy schools during short- or long-term absences or vacancies, typically ranging from 2 to 20 weeks, with an average of 8 to 12 weeks.

• Be available online for students, parents, and school staff from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm in the school’s time zone while on assignment.

• Regularly communicate with parents, students, and teachers to create and update individualized learning plans and schedules.

• Provide feedback on student work, recommend instructional strategies, monitor assignment completion, and validate student learning.

• Complete grading, produce progress reports, and conduct parent conferences.

• Facilitate synchronous and asynchronous web conferencing sessions (LiveLessons).

• Assist students and parents with alternative instructional strategies and support for daily assignments and projects.

• Maintain up-to-date student records and data, including cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance records, and student logs.

• Collaborate with counselors and special educators to address individual student needs and provide updates on student behaviors and classroom activities.

• Regularly check email when not on assignment for notifications regarding upcoming assignments and Substitute Services updates.

• Meet at least once a month with an assigned Substitute Services supervisor via video conferencing, regardless of assignment status.

• Complete mandatory professional learning throughout the year.

• Keep active certifications current.

• Must be highly qualified and possess a valid and active full state teaching certification.

• Multiple state certifications are advantageous.

• Ability to secure certification in other states as needed.

• Capability to obtain additional clearances upon request.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher is required.

• A dedicated, distraction-free home working environment where all business activities will be conducted.

• Availability Monday through Friday during assigned school hours, typically from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm in the school’s time zone, for long-term assignments.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment requiring significant flexibility, effective prioritization, self-direction, and creativity.

• Understanding of IEP/504 plans and their virtual implementation.

• Exceptional attention to detail along with strong time management and organizational skills.

• Proven dedication to student achievement.

• Strong technology skills; experience with learning management systems, Microsoft Office, and Google Apps is preferred.

• Reliable, high-speed internet access is essential.

• A computer equipped with Microsoft OS and Microsoft Office is required (PC preferred).

• Customer-focused mindset and a proven track record as a team player.

• Must not provide care for others during normal school hours while on assignment; alternative care arrangements must be established.

• Must not hold another job during normal school hours while on assignment.

• Completion of required orientation and training programs within 30 days of hire and at the beginning of each school year is mandatory.

• Two-step authentication is necessary to log in to all systems if a job offer is extended.
