Substitute Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Conduct pre-planned lessons in a virtual classroom across designated grade levels or subject areas.

• Clearly communicate lesson objectives and guide students through instructional activities.

• Utilize provided slides, resources, and assignments to ensure continuity of instruction.

• Maintain pacing and structure to optimize instructional time.

• Create and sustain a positive, respectful, and focused virtual classroom atmosphere.

• Monitor student participation and engagement during live sessions.

• Implement classroom routines and expectations that align with school practices.

• Address basic student inquiries and provide instructional support.

• Adapt teaching methods to suit various grade levels, subject areas, and platforms.

• Follow lesson plans and make real-time adjustments to enhance student comprehension.

• Be available on an as-needed basis, sometimes with little notice.

• Communicate with instructional leaders and staff regarding lesson delivery and student concerns.

• Document attendance, participation, and significant issues.

• Provide brief feedback to the assigned teacher after coverage, as necessary.

• Collaborate with staff before and after substitute coverage.

• Utilize the school’s learning management system and virtual teaching platforms.

• Troubleshoot minor technical issues and ensure access to digital materials.

• Promote digital citizenship and appropriate online conduct.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma.

• Capability to teach across various grade levels or subject areas as required.

• Strong classroom management and student engagement abilities in an online environment.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.

• Proficient in using educational technology platforms, including LMS systems and video conferencing tools.

• Ability to quickly establish rapport with students and maintain a positive learning atmosphere.

• Flexible schedule with availability during school hours on an as-needed basis.

• Applicants must have authorization to work for ANY employer in the U.S.

• Not able to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa.

• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree; teaching certification is preferred.

• Preferred: Prior experience in a virtual or online education setting.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Project-Based Learning (PBL) models.

• Preferred: Experience teaching or supporting instruction in a K–12 setting, ideally in a virtual context.

• Preferred: Previous substitute teaching or instructional support experience.

• Knowledge of Google Suite Products.

• Ability to analyze and act on data.
