Substitute Teacher, 9-12

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.

📋 Description

• Provide virtual support for the educational program catering to students enrolled in Connections Academy schools nationwide.

• Act as the teacher of record during temporary or extended absences or vacancies, typically covering assignments lasting between 8 to 12 weeks, with durations ranging from 2 to 20 weeks.

• Engage in regular consultations with students, Learning Coaches, and school staff through telephone, internet, and curriculum tools.

• Be online and accessible from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm in the school's time zone while on assignment.

• Communicate with parents, students, and educators to create and update customized learning plans and schedules.

• Provide constructive feedback on student assignments, recommend instructional methods, track assignment completion, and verify student learning.

• Complete grading responsibilities, generate progress reports, and hold parent conferences.

• Facilitate both synchronous and asynchronous web conferencing sessions (LiveLessons).

• Assist students and parents with alternative instructional strategies, daily tasks, and projects.

• Keep accurate student records and documentation, including cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance, and student logs.

• Collaborate with counselors and special educators to address individual student requirements and provide updates on student conduct and classroom activities.

• Check email for upcoming assignments and updates from Substitute Services when not actively on assignment.

• Conduct monthly meetings with a Substitute Services supervisor via video conferencing.

• Engage in mandatory professional learning activities throughout the academic year.

• Maintain current certifications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be highly qualified and possess a valid and active full state teaching certification.

• Having multiple state certifications is advantageous.

• Capability to obtain certification in additional states as requested.

• Ability to acquire further clearances as required.

• A bachelor's degree or higher is necessary.

• A dedicated, distraction-free home working environment is essential.

• Availability from Monday to Friday during assigned school hours, typically from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm in the school's time zone, for long-term assignments.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment that necessitates flexibility, prioritization, self-direction, and creativity.

• Knowledge of IEP/504 plans and their implementation in a virtual context.

• Exceptional attention to detail; strong time management and organizational abilities.

• Demonstrated commitment to student success.

• Proficient technology skills; experience with learning management systems, Microsoft Office, and Google Apps is preferred.

• Reliable, high-speed internet access is required.

• A computer equipped with Microsoft OS and Microsoft Office is mandatory (PC preferred).

• A customer-focused mindset and a proven track record as a team player.

• Must not provide care for others during regular school hours while on assignment.

• Cannot hold another job during normal school hours while on assignment.

• Required to complete orientation and training within 30 days of hire and at the beginning of each academic year.

• Two-step authentication will be required to access systems if selected for the position.
