Substitute Math Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver targeted course content while providing instruction, support, and guidance in a virtual setting.

• Manage the educational process with an emphasis on the individual needs of students.

• Track student progress utilizing Stride K12’s learning management system.

• Collaborate closely with students and their parents or learning coaches to facilitate student learning towards set objectives.

• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities.

• Customize learning experiences and differentiate instruction based on student proficiency.

• Enhance course materials using suitable asynchronous and synchronous tools with the guidance of the principal and coach.

• Maintain accurate records in the grade book and uphold student academic integrity.

• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion, and notify administrators about any performance issues.

• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments.

• Build and sustain positive relationships with families.

• Communicate effectively and respond promptly to students and their learning coaches/parents.

• Assist learning coaches/parents with curriculum-related, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting issues.

• Travel as needed, averaging once per month and/or up to 20% of the time.


⛳️ Requirements

• Strong preference for residents of Indiana.

• May also consider candidates from Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, or Illinois.

• Must be able to pass a required background check.

• Ability to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week.

• Capacity to maintain a professional home office free from distractions during work hours.

• Ability to interpret and create numeric, tabular, and graphical representations of student data to inform instructional decisions.

• Open to regular coaching from administrators and teacher trainers.

• Willingness to adapt and embrace change to ensure optimal student outcomes.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Quick to learn and adapt to new technologies and educational platforms.

• Experience with the specified age group.

• Experience in assisting both adults and children with technology use.

• Experience teaching in online/virtual settings and/or traditional brick-and-mortar environments.

• Familiarity with online learning platforms.
