Substation Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Lead and expand a team of substation engineers and designers

• Mentor and cultivate the skills of team members

• Establish strong relationships with utility, renewable energy, and industrial clients

• Oversee substation projects from the planning and design phases through to construction support

• Provide technical oversight and ensure quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC)

• Collaborate with regional leadership to enhance business growth and identify new opportunities

• Promote technical excellence, quality, safety, and innovation throughout projects

• Spearhead recruitment, career development, and team engagement initiatives

• Work alongside multidisciplinary teams within AECOM’s Energy practice

• Engage in transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and grid modernization projects

• Create innovative solutions that support the energy transition and future infrastructure

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Science or Arts degree and 12 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in a leadership or practice-building role, or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and education

• Professional Engineer (PE) license required

• U.S. citizenship is required

• Extensive experience in substation engineering is necessary

• Proven experience in managing projects, clients, and technical teams

• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities

• Strong commitment to quality, safety, and client success

• Preference for a PE license in multiple states

• Visa sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization is not currently available, nor will it be in the future
