This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Provide leadership, strategic guidance, and resource management for a technical team that supports GVH in the design of mechanical components for the BWRX-300 SMR.
• Oversee mechanical component design specifically for the Reactor Building.
• Ensure that all designs comply with safety, regulatory, and performance criteria.
• Foster the development of the team's technical skills and leadership capabilities.
• Manage hiring, training, mentoring, performance assessments, and evaluations.
• Plan, organize, and direct technical activities that support engineering deliverables, including the design and qualification of large equipment and components.
• Make decisions and address complex operational, product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering challenges.
• Support performance and program management for assigned tasks, ensuring timely engineering commitments.
• Cultivate relationships with engineering managers, business leaders, project managers, and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with external partners, customers, the NRC, and relevant country-specific regulatory agencies on technical matters.
• Manage both internal and external resources to guarantee the quality of deliverables, enhance flexibility, and achieve better cost outcomes.
• Assist in commercial and marketing efforts while identifying new business opportunities.
• Safeguard GVH's intellectual property rights.
• Contribute to GVH initiatives, process enhancements, and simplification efforts.
• Uphold quality requirements, partake in design reviews, and initiate as well as respond to Corrective Actions.
• Bachelor of Science in an Engineering Discipline (Mechanical, Nuclear, or similar) from an accredited college or university.
• At least 10 years of experience in a technology or engineering role.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a lead or management position within an engineering team.
• Willingness and ability to travel to domestic and international sites as needed (up to 5 to 10%).
• Role is limited to U.S. persons, including U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other individuals protected under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
• Capability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information, if applicable.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Successful completion of a drug screening, as applicable.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership abilities.
• Strategic thinker with creativity and agility.
• Proven ability to lead a team of highly skilled engineers while managing multiple demands and priorities.
• Track record of delivering results while encouraging strong team performance.
• Project management expertise, including communication, risk management, planning/scheduling, and change management.
• Familiarity with working in a regulated environment and/or power plant.
• Knowledge of quality standards and systems such as NQA-1 and ISO 9000.
• Understanding of the nuclear industry and its technologies.
