This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.
β’ Create and execute QA/QC evaluations for substation and protection and control systems up to 500kV
β’ Develop and update one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, grounding plans, physical arrangement drawings, control and relay panel layouts, and equipment interconnection drawings
β’ Conduct grounding, lightning/shielding, voltage drop, and various engineering calculations
β’ Integrate protection and control systems within substation physical layouts and electrical equipment
β’ Formulate control and relay panel specifications, bills of materials, and project criteria documents
β’ Design and size AC and DC auxiliary systems, batteries and chargers, backup generators, conduit, and cable systems
β’ Execute point-to-point checks and coordinate system integration efforts
β’ Review deliverables from junior staff for adherence to client standards and design specifications
β’ Create or facilitate designs for greenfield and brownfield electric utility and power generation projects
β’ Conduct engineering studies, feasibility assessments, and site evaluations
β’ Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to ensure timely and budget-conscious project delivery
β’ Collaborate with utility companies, independent power producers, industrial entities, and energy-sector clients on objectives, technical requirements, constraints, and regulatory compliance
β’ Utilize design software to generate detailed engineering designs, plans, and construction documents
β’ Manage multiple projects with minimal supervision while serving as a technical resource
β’ Lead project execution, quality assurance, schedule management, and ensure client satisfaction
β’ Undertake complex engineering design tasks, delegate routine assignments, and provide technical guidance to junior staff
β’ Assist in project pursuits, proposal creation, scope definition, and client relationship management
β’ Engage in site visits, field investigations, construction support, and project meetings
β’ Develop job site visit safety plans and adhere to GAI and client safety protocols
β’ Assign responsibilities, plan and coordinate engineering tasks, and prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules
β’ Mentor direct reports and other engineers
β’ Stay updated on standards, regulations, and best practices
β’ Analyze complex engineering projects, risks, design requirements, uncertainties, and constraints
β’ Over 8 years of relevant experience
β’ B.S. or M.S. in Engineering; Bachelor's or higher in Engineering or a related field
β’ Professional Engineer (P.E.) License with reciprocity in multiple states
β’ Experience aiding multidisciplinary teams in utility, energy, industrial, and power generation projects from initiation to completion
β’ Knowledge of SRP, APS, and TEP engineering standards, permitting needs, and design methodologies
β’ Strong expertise in engineering design software
β’ Understanding of engineering principles and practices
β’ Capability to independently assess, select, and modify standard techniques, procedures, and criteria
β’ Proficient in preparing plans, specifications, scopes, budgets, schedules, and project documentation
β’ Familiarity with NESC, industry best practices, environmental regulations, safety standards, engineering economics, probability, and statistics
β’ Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interpret complex technical and contractual language
β’ Ability to lead project meetings, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage several projects, and provide technical oversight
β’ Willingness to travel to project sites, client offices, and other GAI locations as needed; approximately 10%β20% local/regional travel
