This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
β’ Oversee the technical implementation of utility-scale battery storage initiatives from the design phase through to construction and commissioning.
β’ Act as the central project contact for technical inquiries, engineering coordination, and project assistance.
β’ Manage the technical scope, engineering timelines, project stakeholders, and deliverables.
β’ Create technical specifications and assist in vendor assessments, supplier qualifications, testing, and commissioning tasks.
β’ Aid procurement and tendering processes by preparing technical requirements, coordinating supplier information, maintaining technical Q&A logs, and assessing EPC bidder proposals.
β’ Supervise external engineering consultants and facilitate technical coordination and design-review meetings.
β’ Review and synchronize engineering designs and technical documentation from suppliers, consultants, and contractors.
β’ Identify discrepancies and ensure timely resolution of technical comments.
β’ Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering needs across electrical, civil, structural, mechanical, controls, and balance-of-plant systems.
β’ Examine Factory Acceptance Test procedures and reports to ensure compliance with project specifications.
β’ Conduct site visits to confirm construction and installation align with approved designs, drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
β’ Provide technical assistance during construction and commissioning phases, addressing design, installation, and project execution challenges.
β’ A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or a comparable combination of education and relevant technical experience.
β’ A minimum of five years of experience in project engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical role supporting complex energy, power, or electrical infrastructure projects.
β’ Strong understanding of low- and medium-voltage electrical systems.
β’ Experience in cable sizing, short-circuit and load-flow analysis, protective-device coordination, and arc-flash studies.
β’ Proven experience in reviewing engineering designs, drawings, technical specifications, and project documentation.
β’ Familiarity with grid-interconnection requirements and applicable renewable energy and energy storage codes and standards, including UL, NFPA, IEEE, NETA, NERC, and relevant regional market requirements.
β’ Experience in supporting procurement and technical bid evaluations for inverters, transformers, and switchgear.
β’ Willingness to travel up to 25% within Canada and the United States, including occasional multi-day site visits.
β’ Knowledge of EMS, SCADA, PPCs, PLCs, IT/OT networks, communication protocols, and similar control systems is an advantage.
β’ Understanding of balance-of-plant systems, including UPS systems, fire detection and suppression, HVAC, and auxiliary electrical systems, is a plus.
