This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
β’ Oversee the technical implementation of utility-scale battery storage initiatives from the design phase through to construction and commissioning.
β’ Serve as the technical liaison for designated projects, managing requests and escalating complex matters as necessary.
β’ Manage the assigned technical scope, engineering timelines, project stakeholders, and deliverables.
β’ Create and evaluate technical specifications.
β’ Assist with vendor assessments, supplier qualification, testing, and commissioning processes.
β’ Facilitate procurement and tendering activities by drafting technical requirements, coordinating supplier information, maintaining technical Q&A logs, and assessing EPC bidder proposals.
β’ Coordinate with external engineering consultants and support technical coordination and design-review meetings.
β’ Review and manage engineering designs and technical documentation from suppliers, consultants, and contractors.
β’ Identify discrepancies and aid in the prompt resolution of comments.
β’ Conduct site inspections to ensure construction and installation activities comply with approved designs, drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
β’ Offer technical assistance during construction and commissioning phases.
β’ Help resolve design, installation, and project execution challenges.
β’ Review Factory Acceptance Test procedures and reports to ensure they meet project requirements.
β’ Educational qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and pertinent technical experience.
β’ Minimum of two years of experience in project engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical role.
β’ Basic understanding of low- and medium-voltage electrical systems.
β’ Familiarity with electrical installation design, cable sizing, short-circuit and load-flow analysis, protective-device coordination, and arc-flash studies.
β’ Capability to interpret and evaluate engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project documentation.
β’ General knowledge of grid-interconnection requirements and relevant renewable energy and energy storage codes and standards, including UL, NFPA, IEEE, NETA, NERC, and applicable regional market regulations.
β’ Willingness to travel up to 25% within Canada and the United States, including occasional multi-day site visits.
β’ Experience with utility-scale battery energy storage systems, lithium-ion battery technology, medium-voltage substations, or renewable energy projects is considered a plus.
β’ Familiarity with balance-of-plant systems, including UPS systems, fire detection and suppression, HVAC, and auxiliary electrical systems, is an advantage.
