This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Create new and update existing civil site plan drawings for substations.

• Develop plans for grading, drainage, and stormwater management.

• Formulate erosion and sediment control plans adhering to local and state regulations.

• Design roadway, access drive, and site layout plans.

• Execute earthwork grading and cut/fill balancing using Civil 3D or OpenRoads/MicroStation methodologies.

• Conduct AutoTURN analyses to assess access for construction and maintenance vehicles.

• Prepare utility layout plans that include storm sewer, sanitary, and water service plans as necessary.

• Create permit-ready civil drawing packages for review by utilities and agencies.

• Assist in the preparation of permitting exhibits and support efforts for environmental and jurisdictional permits.

• Collaborate with surveyors, geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, and substation electrical teams.

• Evaluate civil-related vendor drawings and integrate feedback as needed.

• Aid in quantity takeoffs and the preparation of project deliverables.

• Implement applicable client standards, local agency requirements, and industry best practices in all tasks.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering technology, Drafting Technology, or a related field.

• At least 2 years of civil site design experience with MicroStation.

• Required proficiency in MicroStation.

• Experience in developing civil site plans for utility, industrial, commercial, or municipal projects.

• Knowledge of grading design and earthwork calculations.

• Experience with erosion and sediment control plans preparation.

• Understanding of stormwater management principles and permitting requirements.

• Experience conducting AutoTURN vehicle turning analyses.

• Familiarity with site development permitting processes and agency coordination.

• Ability to interpret survey and geotechnical data.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• Capability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary engineering teams.

• Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality outputs.

• Preferred experience in supporting electric utility substation projects.

• Familiarity with utility client standards is preferred.

• Preferred experience with hydrology software such as HEC-RAS, Hydraflow, HydroCAD, or similar.

• Knowledge of SWPPP preparation and stormwater permitting requirements is preferred.

• Preferred experience coordinating with local, county, and state permitting agencies.
