
Subaward Specialist – Senior Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Apply best practices across various business sectors in collaboration with college research administrators, financial officers, and the Office of Budget and Finance.
• Facilitate training sessions on new, emerging, and ongoing compliance requirements for subawards.
• Monitor health indicators of the subaward portfolio, which includes processing times for requests and amendments, invoice assessments, payment schedules, and closeout timelines.
• Execute tasks related to subaward setup and collaborate with the Office of Sponsored Programs, principal investigators, and college research officers.
• Assess ongoing risk levels of subrecipients, including reviewing Single Audit reports.
• Ensure timely review, approval, and processing of subrecipient invoices.
• Act as a liaison between administrative units and sister OSVPR units, offering guidance to customers and stakeholders.
• Create and present outreach and educational materials regarding subaward policy interpretation.
• Propose and implement procedures for consistent and efficient subaward management, tracking, internal controls, and adherence to regulatory and university policies.
• Compile special reports and provide information to both internal and external customers.
• Manage team workload and promote effective office operations.
• Stay informed about federal and sponsor requirements, university policies, and state and federal regulations pertaining to sponsored project administration.
• Bachelor's Degree.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience for the Advanced Professional level, or over 6 years for the Senior Professional level.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• No specific certifications are required.
• Preferred experience and knowledge of SIMBA (Penn State's Integrated Management, Budgeting, and Accounting System) or SAP/S4HANA.
• Strong preference for candidates with experience in research administration and/or subawards.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate clearly and accurately.

• Successful completion of background check(s) is required.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; Penn State does not sponsor or assume sponsorship of a staff employment visa.
