Student – Reading Partners Literacy Tutor, Work-Study Only

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +31 more states.

📋 Description

• Collaborate individually with elementary school students at partner institutions utilizing Reading Partners’ structured curriculum.

• Provide tutoring either in-person or via the online tutoring platform using video conferencing technology.

• Review session notes prior to each tutoring lesson.

• Complete documentation after every session.

• Typically commit to 5–20 tutoring sessions each week.

• Participate in tutoring sessions that last just over an hour, which includes both preparation and follow-up activities.

• Foster students’ learning, growth, and help them reach their full potential.

• Establish relationships with students and address their unique learning needs.

• Employ affirming language and engage respectfully with diverse populations.

• Stay open and engaged with read-aloud materials and the social-emotional learning curriculum.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently enrolled in classes as part of a SNHU degree program.

• Eligibility for work-study as part of the financial aid package.

• A strong passion for early literacy and dedication to supporting young learners.

• Availability to maintain a consistent weekly tutoring schedule during school hours (Monday–Thursday, approximately 8 am–3 pm local time, with limited availability for after-school sessions).

• Preference given to candidates who can commit to the full program year (through May/June).

• Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality.

• Attend a Reading Partners tutor orientation before beginning work with students.

• Agree to Reading Partners’ Liability Waiver and Media Release and adhere to the Tutor Code of Conduct.

• Complete and pass a background check.

• Maintain a positive attitude towards learning, diversity, and students.

• Be receptive to feedback and coaching; exhibit patience and empathy while maintaining high expectations.

• Ability to interact effectively with students.

• Remain adaptable to schedule changes.

• For online tutors: must have reliable, password-protected Wi-Fi and access to a PC, Mac, or Chromebook equipped with a functioning webcam and microphone.
