
Structural Designer II – Heavy Industrial Equipment, Hot Exhaust Ducting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Create 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, and material take-offs for heavy industrial machinery and ducting systems.
• Support the design of hot exhaust and flue gas ducting, which includes casings, transitions, and structural plate elements.
• Produce drawings for client review, material sourcing, and fabrication processes.
• Integrate design considerations regarding thermal expansion, operating temperatures, and mechanical loads.
• Coordinate ducting arrangements and interfaces with SCR reactors, baghouses, ESPs, dampers, and expansion joints.
• Evaluate project inputs for completeness and raise any questions or discrepancies with senior designers or project engineers.
• Execute geometric and material calculations to maintain drawing precision and material listings.
• Revise drawings according to internal evaluations, client feedback, and fabrication insights.
• Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales teams.
• Adhere to document control protocols for drawing issuance, revisions, and file management.
• Associate’s degree in Computer-Aided Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in industrial structural or mechanical design.
• Proven experience in producing industrial ductwork or plate structures, ideally in heavy industrial or process-equipment settings.
• Skilled in 3D modeling and the creation of fabrication-ready drawings.
• Capable of performing basic geometric and material quantity calculations with accuracy.
• Experience with Autodesk® Inventor or comparable 3D mechanical design software is preferred.
• Familiarity with hot exhaust or flue gas ducting systems operating at high temperatures is advantageous.
• Knowledge of pollution control equipment such as SCRs, baghouses, or ESPs is preferred.
• Basic understanding of thermal expansion principles in large ducting or plate structures is beneficial.
• Awareness of standard industrial welding practices and fabrication limitations is preferred.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs and align ducting layouts with process specifications is preferred.
• Estimated travel is no more than 5% of working hours.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
