This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take charge of the Blueprints and technical components utilized by Level Design, ensuring they are well-organized, maintainable, efficient, and user-friendly for designers.
• Create and implement gameplay and level systems using Unreal Engine Blueprints, with a strong emphasis on multiplayer functionality and network replication.
• Assume responsibility for systems such as destruction actors, interactive environmental elements, and other reusable gameplay actors for levels.
• Establish and advocate for best practices in Blueprints regarding multiplayer, replication, performance, reusability, and maintainability.
• Review and enhance existing Blueprints and actors as the project progresses.
• Serve as a technical liaison between Level Design and Engineering, converting design needs into technical solutions, tools, and documentation.
• Convey technical constraints and requirements to Level Designers.
• Assist in defining technical standards and workflows for efficient, high-quality level design.
• Identify technical risks and obstacles within Level Design and collaborate with Engineering to address them.
• Contribute to the technical vision and advancement of Level Design workflows.
• At least 5 years of experience working with Unreal Engine in a game development setting.
• Strong comprehension of Blueprint architecture and best practices.
• Experience in developing multiplayer games, with a solid grasp of replication and networked gameplay concepts.
• Capability to understand technical requirements and translate them into practical Blueprint solutions.
• Comfortable collaborating closely with programmers and level designers during technical discussions.
• Proficient in reading and understanding script code.
• Experience in creating reusable, scalable, and maintainable gameplay or level actors.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make technical decisions in your area of responsibility.
• A proactive attitude and the assurance to establish and promote technical best practices.
• Candidates must be current residents of Ontario or Quebec or willing to relocate to Ontario.
