Structural Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Perform structural analysis on space vehicles, identifying failure scenarios and calculating safety margins.

• Develop finite element models and execute static and quasi-static analysis for composite and metallic structures.

• Convert load conditions into static qualification testing for structural assemblies.

• Assist in evaluating architectural concepts and lead trade studies.

• Address non-conformance issues.

• Participate in material reviews and failure assessment boards.

• Collaborate across disciplines on spacecraft structural analysis and design evaluations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline is required.

• At least 7 years of practical experience in mechanical and structural analysis of spacecraft.

• Proficiency in FEMAP and NASTRAN.

• Knowledge of best practices in finite element modeling.

• Experience with free body diagrams and top-level analysis to effectively resolve and validate computer-generated loads.

• Familiarity with composite space structures.

• Capability to identify critical loads for coupled loads analysis (CLA).

• Comprehensive understanding of NASTRAN solution sequences, case control, and bulk data cards.

• Strong proficiency in MS Excel and the wider MS Office suite.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Ability to operate in a standard office environment and use a computer for extended durations.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

• Must be a U.S. citizen to adhere to U.S. ITAR regulations.

• Preferred: basic understanding of dynamic loads and modal analysis.

• Preferred: capability to code using programming languages or toolset APIs.

• Preferred: experience with materials properties/databases and defining allowable limits.

• Familiarity with MATLAB and CAD packages is preferred.
