Strategic Services Associate – Hospital Coding

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Participate in activities aimed at enhancing performance in both operational and clinical settings.

• Oversee adherence to regulations and accreditation requirements, while formulating strategies to improve compliance.

• Conduct both quantitative and qualitative analyses to inform strategic, operational, clinical, and financial decision-making.

• Create ongoing and ad hoc analyses utilizing both internal data and external benchmarking resources.

• Execute data extraction and analysis from Vizient, including benchmarking, utilization, cost, quality, and operational data.

• Clean, validate, reconcile, and manipulate substantial datasets.

• Detect trends, anomalies, performance deficiencies, and areas for improvement.

• Design dashboards, reports, scorecards, and presentations suited for executive audiences.

• Collaborate with Finance, Decision Support, Clinical Analytics, and various data teams.

• Set baseline performance metrics and evaluate the impact of improvement initiatives.

• Assist with business cases, opportunity evaluations, forecasting, and return-on-investment analyses.

• Act as project manager or provide project management support for strategic and operational enhancement initiatives.

• Create project charters, work plans, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.

• Organize cross-functional meetings and project teams.

• Maintain project trackers, action logs, risk/issue logs, and status updates.

• Identify risks, barriers, and dependencies, and escalate issues as necessary.

• Support physician documentation improvement efforts alongside physicians, CDI, HIM, Coding, Revenue Cycle, and clinical leadership.

• Analyze documentation trends and opportunities, and develop educational materials, performance reports, and feedback tools.

• Monitor documentation improvement and assess financial, quality, coding, and operational impacts.

• Facilitate margin enhancement initiatives through data-driven identification of opportunities and project execution.

• Analyze revenue, expenses, utilization, productivity, supply costs, labor, reimbursement, and other financial/operational factors.

• Measure savings, revenue opportunities, and financial impacts.

• Compare expected versus actual financial benefits.

• Support initiatives related to labor productivity, supply utilization, purchased services, revenue optimization, clinical variation, throughput, capacity utilization, and other margin-related efforts.

• Conduct research and analysis for strategic planning, market assessments, service-line planning, and organizational priorities.

• Prepare executive presentations, briefing materials, dashboards, and decision-support analyses.

• Assist with rapid-turnaround analyses and special projects.

• Produce Vizient benchmark analyses, executive dashboards, opportunity assessments, project work plans, initiative trackers, documentation analyses, margin assessments, realization trackers, executive presentations, and post-implementation analyses.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in a business or health-related field is essential.

• At least 5 years of professional experience is required.

• A minimum of 3 years in a role with significant responsibilities for performance/process improvement.

• Experience in leading work teams is mandatory.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.

• Capable of communicating effectively with customers and staff from diverse educational backgrounds.

• Proficient in analyzing data and processes to identify opportunities for improvement.

• Ability to manage multiple diverse projects concurrently through effective prioritization and organization.

• Knowledge of accreditation standards and regulations relevant to healthcare is required.

• High attention to detail and accuracy is essential.

• Proficiency in computer skills is mandatory.

• Coding experience is highly desirable, preferably in an inpatient setting.

• Clinical experience is advantageous.

• RHIT/RHIA/CCS certification is preferred.
