Strategic Planner

📋 Description

• Lead the creation of comprehensive communications strategies that are in line with organizational missions and leadership objectives.

• Convert organizational priorities and policy themes into implementable communications plans.

• Oversee collaborative planning efforts involving communications, program, policy, IT, and operational teams.

• Formulate strategic frameworks, message structures, and communication roadmaps.

• Perform environmental assessments, stakeholder analyses, and communication risk evaluations.

• Assist in crafting long-term communication calendars, campaign timelines, and outreach strategies.

• Generate strategic briefs, planning presentations, talking points, and executive communication materials.

• Ensure consistency and alignment of messaging across various channels including digital, print, and stakeholder engagement platforms.

• Aid in the analysis of metrics and reporting on communication performance to guide strategy enhancements.

• Facilitate planning meetings, workshops, and reviews of strategic communications.

• Recognize opportunities for the modernization, integration, and optimization of communications.


⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must hold a Tier 2 Moderate Risk Public Trust (from any federal agency) or possess an active Secret clearance or above.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Strategy, Public Policy, or a related discipline is required.

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in strategic communications, communications planning, or public affairs is essential.

• Proven experience in developing integrated communications strategies for federal, DoD, or enterprise-level organizations.

• Expertise in aligning messaging with mission objectives, policy, and leadership directives.

• Demonstrated capability to manage communications planning across multiple channels.

• Understanding of strategic planning methodologies and narrative coherence.

• Familiarity with communications governance, messaging frameworks, and editorial processes.

• Experience in creating strategic content materials such as briefs, frameworks, and communication plans.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills that are suitable for senior-level audiences.

• Strong planning, facilitation, and coordination abilities.

• Capacity to simplify complex priorities into clear communication strategies.

• Robust analytical, synthesis, and strategic thinking skills.

• High attention to detail and an ability to juggle multiple priorities at once.
