
STD Case Manager β 16-Month Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
β’ Manage and process all Short Term Disability claims.
β’ Determine eligibility and compute earnings and benefit levels.
β’ Acquire necessary medical evidence within specified timelines.
β’ Conduct interviews with claimants and employers to collect pertinent claim information.
β’ Process claims in chronological order in accordance with client service standards.
β’ Evaluate diagnoses and treatment plans utilizing available resources.
β’ Communicate professionally with insurance agencies, medical professionals, employees, management, and legal representatives.
β’ Share only permissible information with authorized recipients and provide written documentation.
β’ Draft and send written correspondence outlining claim activities and subsequent steps.
β’ Engage in claim conference calls with employers.
β’ Work in conjunction with the early intervention team to reduce absence duration and facilitate return to work.
β’ Supply documentation to insurance carriers for MTD/LTD claim processing.
β’ Ensure confidentiality of records and medical claims information.
β’ Operate the automated claims payment system and perform manual calculations when necessary.
β’ Minimum of 3 years of claims experience within a group insurance setting.
β’ Preferred experience in Long or Short term disability insurance.
β’ Post-secondary degree or diploma, or equivalent experience is required.
β’ Familiarity with medical terminology and disability contract language is an asset.
β’ CDMP or LOMA designation is a plus.
β’ Medical background is advantageous, such as Occupational Therapist, Kinesiology, Nursing, or Physiotherapy.
β’ Must be able to work within core business hours.
β’ A minimum of 95% accuracy is required following the training period.
β’ Must maintain confidentiality of client and corporate records as well as medical claims information.
