Staff UX Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Acquire a comprehensive understanding of Sonatype’s multi-product developer platform, user personas, and essential Jobs To Be Done.

• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to co-create user flows and establish experience direction.

• Translate intricate information architecture, developer workflows, permissions models, and multi-product interactions into user-friendly experience patterns.

• Produce user, product, and system flow diagrams utilizing Miro.

• Design conceptual frameworks and UX architectures for both new features and iterative enhancements.

• Develop coded UX prototypes using Claude Code, VS Code, GitHub workflows, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.

• Organize prototypes to enable AI tools to generate engineering specifications, scope definitions, and implementation requirements from code diffs.

• Perform lightweight research, including interviews, surveys, UAT, and quick validation efforts.

• Lead iterative design and exploration sessions with product managers and engineers.

• Offer structured UX reviews and guidance across various product teams.

• Mentor engineers on UX principles, usability, accessibility, and interaction patterns.

• Deliver high-fidelity coded prototypes using the design system and established user flows.

• Assist the UX Guild in enhancing UX quality and alignment across teams.

• Contribute to the evolution of AI-accelerated design workflows and alignment with the design system.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in designing enterprise software or developer platforms, typically ranging from 10 to 15+ years.

• Profound collaborative experience with engineers; a hybrid UX/engineering background is highly advantageous.

• Proficient in conducting lightweight research, including interviews, surveys, usability tests, and UAT.

• Capability to determine the appropriate level of research without hindering delivery timelines.

• Practical knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

• Familiarity with React.

• Experience with GitHub and version control systems.

• Acquainted with IDE and AI code editor integrations.

• Strong desire to enhance coding prototyping skills and utilize AI effectively.

• Excellent UX judgment within complex technical environments.

• Ability to simplify processes while adhering to real-world constraints.

• Effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Eagerness and curiosity to integrate AI into design workflows.

• Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
