This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Spearhead research strategy and execution for a specific product domain at Ancestry.
• Take ownership of comprehensive research roadmaps for crucial product areas.
• Recognize unmet user needs and align research goals with domain success metrics.
• Facilitate generative and exploratory research during the initial stages of product discovery.
• Examine problem areas, reveal unfulfilled user needs, and outline product direction.
• Lead or assign tactical research activities such as usability testing and concept validation.
• Design and implement qualitative studies that include interviews, usability testing, and diary studies.
• Design and carry out quantitative research studies such as surveys, card sorts, and tree tests.
• Cross-reference research findings with product analytics, behavioral data, member services, social feedback, and external trend sources.
• Integrate AI into research workflows and experiment with new tools and methodologies.
• Collaborate strategically with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders to jointly oversee domain strategy.
• Challenge existing product assumptions and influence feature roadmaps.
• Over 7 years of experience in UX research.
• Experience embedded within cross-functional software development teams delivering large-scale consumer applications (preferably).
• Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguous environments and develop structured, actionable research plans.
• Expertise in mixed methods research, including both qualitative and quantitative research execution.
• Experience in triangulating behavioral data, member services, social feedback, and external trend sources.
• Practical experience in incorporating AI into research workflows.
• Proficiency in determining when to use rapid usability checks versus foundational, longitudinal studies based on project risk and timeline constraints.
• Strong fluency in product analytics.
• Experience collaborating with analytics teams to validate qualitative hypotheses using behavioral data.
• Ability to work effectively with Product Managers, Designers, Engineers, and Marketing leaders.
