Staff Test Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a quality leader within Mercury’s Personal Lines sector.

• Develop and expand automation frameworks and enhance test coverage across UI and API layers utilizing Java and Selenium.

• Take ownership of the test engineering strategy for larger and more intricate software projects.

• Collaborate closely with teams in development, product, engineering, and business stakeholders.

• Create and execute comprehensive test plans and robust testing strategies.

• Develop, sustain, and run both automated and manual test cases and scripts.

• Champion automation-first testing and incorporate testing into CI/CD pipelines.

• Detect complex defects, deliver in-depth bug analysis, and enforce defect tracking and resolution processes.

• Maintain thorough test documentation across both upstream and downstream functional areas.

• Lead initiatives for continuous improvement and leverage quantitative metrics to enhance quality and testing efficiency.

• Assess and adopt emerging testing technologies, tools, and methodologies, including AI-driven approaches.

• Mentor both junior and senior members of the test engineering team and facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions.

• Anticipate challenges and assist teams in resolving complex issues.

• Review and endorse test strategies and test cases for various teams.

• Monitor, analyze, and interpret testing metrics effectively.

• Establish test engineering strategies, policies, standards, and best practices.

• Work alongside the SET team to determine automation priorities and enhance test coverage.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.

• Over 8 years of industry experience, with hands-on leadership of testing teams on medium-sized projects.

• More than 3 years of experience in developing complex automation tests.

• At least 7 years of white box testing experience.

• A minimum of 5 years in automation testing.

• Over 3 years of experience with Java or Python.

• More than 3 years of experience in testing UI and APIs.

• Familiarity with the Insurance Industry.

• Experience in utilizing AI in testing.

• Capability to manage multiple large testing projects across various teams or business units.

• Strong ability to facilitate task-specific collaboration and communicate precise technical details.

• Proficiency in defining and driving scalable, efficient testing methodologies.

• Exceptional skill in identifying and resolving subtle, complex defects.

• Expertise in addressing highly complex issues and system-level challenges.

• Ability to analyze intricate product requirements and devise the testing approach.

• Proficiency in defect tracking management and documentation tools.

• Capability to write and maintain complex automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, TestNG, or similar.

• Advanced skills in API testing with tools like Postman, SoapUI, and custom scripts.

• Flexibility to adapt to evolving requirements, code designs, technologies, methods, priorities, work styles, and responsibilities.
