Staff Technical Program Manager – Healthcare

📋 Description

• Lead intricate healthcare programs autonomously from customer discovery and use-case definition through to technical implementation, validation, production launch, and operational transition.

• Collaborate with clinical, operational, IT, security, and executive stakeholders to gain insights into workflows, pain points, data environments, integration limitations, and success metrics.

• Convert unclear customer requirements into defined program scope, requirements, milestones, ownership, dependencies, decision points, and measurable exit criteria.

• Coordinate the delivery process across product, engineering, AI/ML, platform, infrastructure, security, legal, compliance, and customer teams.

• Maintain a definitive source of truth for plans, risks, decisions, dependencies, validation status, launch readiness, and customer obligations.

• Manage dependencies related to EHR systems, customer APIs, identity and access management, clinical protocols, data access, cloud/on-premises infrastructure, and third-party systems.

• Propel healthcare AI-governance readiness, which includes use-case registration, risk classification, validation planning, audit evidence, customer evaluations, approval gates, and production sign-off.

• Define and implement phased validation strategies, encompassing de-identified testing, sandbox environments, shadow modes, controlled rollouts, and formal production acceptance, with criteria for quality, safety, reliability, privacy, observability, and rollback.

• Facilitate customer program reviews, executive updates, technical working sessions, governance assessments, and go-live readiness evaluations.

• Transform deployment insights into reusable playbooks, onboarding checklists, validation standards, templates, and program management tools.

• Identify cross-program conflicts, capacity challenges, and sequencing decisions, and guide leaders towards resolutions.

• Establish program standards, mentor fellow program managers, and influence sequencing at the portfolio level.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in technical program management, product delivery, engineering program management, healthcare implementation, or a related field.

• Proven track record of successfully leading complex, cross-functional software or platform programs from ambiguous discovery to production adoption.

• Experience providing technology solutions in healthcare, life sciences, or other highly regulated environments that involve sensitive data and formal approval processes.

• Direct experience working with enterprise customers and effectively communicating with engineers, product leaders, executives, operational teams, and domain specialists.

• Strong technical fluency in software architecture, APIs, integrations, data flows, cloud infrastructure, identity, security, testing, deployment, and production operations.

• Ability to deeply engage with engineering teams, comprehend technical constraints, challenge assumptions, and translate engineering decisions into program and customer impact.

• Experience managing programs with external dependencies, lengthy approval timelines, customer-controlled systems, and competing organizational priorities.

• Excellent judgment in balancing delivery speed, customer value, technical quality, security, regulatory obligations, and long-term product maintainability.

• Demonstrated ability to influence decisions and foster accountability across multiple teams without relying on direct authority.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including succinct executive reporting, decision documentation, risk framing, and facilitating customer interactions.

• Willingness to occasionally travel to customer locations for discovery, validation, governance reviews, and production launches.

• Preferred: Experience in delivering software or AI capabilities within health systems, academic medical centers, clinical research organizations, healthcare technology companies, or provider operations.

• Preferred: Experience with EHR implementations or integrations, such as Epic or Oracle Health/Cerner.

• Preferred: Familiarity with FHIR, SMART on FHIR, HL7 v2, CDS Hooks, interface engines, and healthcare APIs.

• Preferred: Experience managing PHI, HIPAA, BAAs, audit logging, and customer-managed environments.

• Preferred: Experience with clinical or operational AI-governance processes, model validation, human-in-the-loop workflows, shadow-mode testing, and controlled production rollout.

• Preferred: Familiarity with AI agents, LLM applications, RAG, guardrails, evaluations, workflow orchestration, and model observability.

• Preferred: Experience with Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, or GCP, customer-managed deployments, and secure enterprise software delivery.

• Preferred: Experience managing clinical-administrative workflows such as document routing, scheduling, prescription renewal, prior authorization, in-basket management, discharge planning, or clinical research operations.

• Preferred: Experience in building scalable delivery processes that minimize implementation time and customer-specific engineering efforts across multiple deployments.

• Preferred: Prior experience in a startup, forward-deployed engineering organization, professional services environment, or other high-ownership, rapid-execution settings.
